Began playing tennis at age nine, but didn't play competitively until
age 13. Went to boarding school in Australia and didn't play from 16-18.
Father, Dato Abdul Malik Salleh, an advocate and solicitor, with private
practice; mother, Datin Elizabeth Malik; avid housewife; brother, Azlan (21),
a student at Kentucky; sister, Sarah (24), works in hotel management.
Played at the University of Kentucky from 1987-89 and was an All-
American in singles and doubles (w/Benson). Ranked No. 9 in singles and No.
9 doubles.
An eight handicap in golf and enjoys cooking (pasta, barbecue), music,
and television.
Coached by Duane Lundy, who is the Director of Tennis at the Kentucky
Tennis Academy.
