- As a player, Claudio was Italian champion several times as a junior and in 1985, World Champion ITF Junior
- He participated on the Italian Davis Cup Team and reached a career-high No. 71 in the ATP rankings
- He won one ATP Tour title in Bari, Italy
- In June 2010, he was elected ATP Coach Representative for the ATP Player Council and was re-elected in 2012
- Claudio is also a prominent tennis journalist in Italy, writing since 1997 for various Italian tennis magazines
