A mellow personality, Miles Maclagan was born in Zambia to Scottish parents, but raised in Zimbabwe until 1988 when his family left for the United Kingdom. His father, Ramsay, is an accountant; mother, Elsie, is a school teacher. He has twin sisters Carolyn and Suzanne...He began playing tennis aged five...Turned pro in 1993, coached by former British player Leighton Alfred...Reached 1994 British National Championships final (l. to Bates)...Made five appearances at Wimbledon (1993-95, 1999-2000), highlighted by taking Boris Becker to five sets in 1999. Missed one match point in the fourth set...On ATP Challenger Tour won two singles title at 1995-Istanbul and 1998-Bronz, and two doubles titles at 1993-Istanbul (w/Piscariu) and 1997-Brasov (w/Cosac). Made his Davis Cup debut for Great Britain in 1995 and came out of retirement in 2002 to partner Tim Henman to victory against Thailand. Finished with a 1-4 record from three ties...Attained a career-high singles ranking of No. 172 (14 August 1995) and No. 200 in doubles (3 October 1994)...Also finished runner-up at 2000-Wrexham (w/A.
