Nickname is Jerry after the cartoon character. "Tom and Jerry has been around for a long time and I’d say that was my favourite show," says Shang. "I think my parents would like me to be as smart as the mouse Jerry."
Father, Yi, was a professional football player; mother, Na, was a world champion table tennis player.
Started playing tennis at age 5 because his parents thought tennis would suit him well.
Favourite shot is forehand, surface is clay and tournament is Roland Garros.
Idols growing up were Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Also enjoys golf and running.
Says that he would probably be a golfer if he wasn't a tennis player.
