    • Began playing tennis at age five, after his parents gave him a 'palo con pelota' (paddle ball with string) during a family vacation to the beach: "I would play with it for four hours each day. I hit the ball alone and did not stop. When I came home, I asked my parents for tennis lessons and that's how it started."
    • Tennis idols are Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro.
    • Describes himself as a very hard worker: "I try to make myself better every day and I give my heart to everything I do. And I always try to see the positive side when things don't go my way. No. 19 de Minaur in 2Rand No. 16 Coric in 3R, l. to Zverev), his best Grand Slam result. Finished season wtih personal-best 19-12record on clay.
    • At Roland Garros, beat No. 19 de Minaur (2R) and No. 16 Coric (3R) before losing to Zverev in QFs, his best Grand Slam result.
