Speaks Russian, English and Spanish.
Father, Andrey, is a former boxer; mother, Marina, is a tennis coach; sister, Arina, is also a tennis coach.
Idols growing up were Marat Safin and Rafael Nadal, whom he met in 2014 at Guillermo Vilas Academy in Mallorca. Went there on vacation and ended up practising with Nadal.
Favourite shot is forehand.
Named ATP Most Improved Player of the Year in 2020 after jumping from No. 23 to No. 8 in Pepperstone ATP Rankings.
Hobbies include boxing, basketball and music.
Supports Golden State Warriors (NBA).
Owns an icon painted by 15th-century Russian artist Andrei Rublev (no relation).
Missed 3 months in 2018 due to lower back stress fracture and 6 weeks in 2019 due to right wrist injury.

Former World No. 1 junior broke into Top 20 in January 2020, Top 10 in October 2020 and Top 5 in September 2021. Has finished in Top 10 Pepperstone ATP Rankings for 4 straight years from 2020-23 and has earned 50+ wins for 3 consecutive years with career-best 56 in 2023 going into Nitto ATP Finals.
Came back from a set down in both SF (d. Fritz) and final (d. Rune) for the first time in his career at 2023 Monte Carlo to earn 1st ATP Masters 1000 title.
Defeated No. 3 Nadal at 2021 Monte Carlo and No. 2 Medvedev at 2021 Cincinnati en route to ATP Masters 1000 finals, then beat No. 1 Djokovic for 11th of 14 ATP Tour titles at 2022 Belgrade.
Led tour with 5 titles in 2020, tied for tour-lead with 41 victories in 2020, and won 23 matches and 4 titles in a row at ATP 500 events from 2020-21.
