fianls at the U.S. Open in 1988. He defeated Boris Becker in the second round

Jakob Hlasek in the final.
Reached the doubles quarterfinals of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games (w/
Fitzgerald). Also represented Australia in Davis Cup play for the first time.
Began playing tennis in high school in 1980 and turned professional in
1985.
Enjoys golf and windsurfing.
Earned a career-high $300,634, compiled a 31-24 match record and ranked
a year-end best No. 27 in 1988, his first top 50 finish after ranking 82 in
'87. Finished No. 53 on the ATP computer and earned $252,557 in 1989.
Missed nearly three years of action due to left and right knee injuries
which required seven operations on both knees. Played his last singles event
at the Lipton in March 1991 and did not return to the Tour until January 1994
in Adelaide where he lost in the first round in singles and semifinals in
doubles. A week later in Sydney, won his 13th career doubles title (w/Stolle)
and improved his doubles ranking over 500 positions.
