Enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Pepperdine University, winn- ing a record 72 matches and being named All-America in 1987. He reached the RD 16 at the '87 NCAA singles championships. He was voted the 1986 Most Improved Player of the Year by Tennis Canada. He won the 1985 Canadian National singles crown and was a 1986 Canadian National Doubles runner-up (w/Michibata). Coached by Luis Cayer. Turned pro in June 1987. Ranked a year-end best No. 104 and earned a career-high $69,379 in 1989.
